Night Dive Studios is a dedicated team of video game industry vets who have committed themselves to restoring classic PC games for modern platforms. Perhaps best known for their release of the smash techno-horror hit System Shock 2, Night Dive Studios’ other releases include Harvester, Wizardry, The 7th Guest and the 11th Hour, Shadow Man, I have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Sid Meiers Colonization, Pirates, and Covert Action, as well as nearly 50 other titles.

Our mandate for this project was clear;

This was a website and brand that demanded a visceral experience. It would be a website and standards that encouraged the user to engage, a site to push the envelope of commerce-driven web assets, a site that — if it wore a Snuggy — would cut off the sleeves just to look more badass.

Night Dive Studios wanted iDreamDigital to deliver a truly branded experience in the vein of some of our most exciting designs and they gave us darn near carte blanche to do it.

Armed with the Night Dive Studios trailer, photos of past and present peripherals, and the input of some fantastic stakeholders, we went to work. The result was a fun but highly functional website, coupled seamlessly with robust and enveloping brand standards that help create an ambient atmosphere for a truly immersive website experience.

Technical Specs

The Night Dive Studios website has been built over our proprietary Nova One framework for WordPress. Boasting a multi-layer parallax background presentation, various coded and optimized animation elements, the Nova Slider, and purpose-built commerce plugins the Night Dive Studios website is ultra-contemporary while still accessible by 95% of web traffic.

The Narrative.

Malevolent, ravenous, timeless… she endures. In the darkness… she endures. Unconcerned with the forgotten toils of vanished empires, continents now long faded beneath the waves, or mountains ground to dust in the passing of countless seasons… she endures. Since time before reckoning, before stars and moons, before death, the mother of hunger; she endures.

But what is this?

As a gentle breeze might stir ripples upon a pond, she feels movement above. What is it? Countless tides had turned since such a sizable prey had stumbled upon her dark lair. Not since the age of terrible beasts had she set her will upon such a feast. Is it soft, will it crunch? Is it slippery, will it slurp? A millennia it had been since she had claimed a new prize.

She strikes, and as sure as the tides will return; it is hers. An unusual prey, to be sure. A clever prey, but a fragile prey. Hard, cold bones. Pieces glisten in the weak beams flickering from above. This prize will make a fine addition to her treasures.

Content but for a moment, her tentacles basque in trophies of long forgotten feasts as she slips back into her dark slumber.
